The National Handicraft & Cottage Industry Development Board
The Craft-House, also known as ‘The National Handicraft & Cottage Industry Development Board’ came into being by an Act in Parliament dated 26th February, 1982 cited as the National Handicraft & Cottage Industries Development Board Act 1982.
The Designated authority to manage the affairs of the Craft-House was vested in a Board of Directors and a Manager, appointed by the Minister with responsibility for the Craft-House.
The Main Objectives are:
To plan the operation of craft development in the state
To conduct training for craftsmen etc
To promote product development, research and improve techniques
To establish quality control and minimum standards.
In general, the basic aims and objectives of the Craft-House is to provide a continuous program of training in craft production, thereby creating a Cadre of professional, skilled craft entrepreneurs.
